Founder, Executive Director, and Project Manager

Jan Kuyper Erland: M.S. Special Education, Learning Disabilities, University of Kansas; currently enrolled, having completed +80 hours of non-degree seeking, post-graduate work, to remain current in Marketing, Business Law, Information Systems, and Special Education at KU; B.S. Education, Science, English, Theater, and Speech emphases, Drake University; Also attended the University of Texas, Austin. Learning Disabilities and Assessment Specialist, Intervention Learning Consultant for Mem-ExSpan, Inc.; researcher and program content developer for The Bridge To Achievement, (The BTA) cognitive skills Arts and Education training for ages 9 to 99; Recognized in 2001 with award-winning, juried published research by the International Alliance for Learning. Website Content Project Manager for Innovative Learning Stratagems, Inc. National conference speaker on educational issues on learning and performance. Former elementary classroom teacher; and elementary and junior high learning disabilities resource room specialist, teaching under full contract in seven Midwestern public school districts. Served as local Lawrence, KS, ILS business partner with the Lawrence Public School USD 497 District’s elementary schools in a volunteer advisory role. Member of: American Psychological Association (APA) and Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD); member and served on the Editorial Review Board for the International Alliance For Learning and Teaching, (IAL); National Mind-Brain Forum Editor, and served on the Kansas City Board of Directors for the American Society For Training and Development, (ASTD) formed their first Position Referral Service Committee, and later formed, an additional subcommittee, The Career Enhancement Group; member of: Association For Children With Learning Disabilities, (ACLD); Literacy Chairperson, Betty Washington Chapter, for The Daughters of the American Revolution; invited as a founding member of Total Quality Alliance, National Learning Foundation, Washington DC.

Michael Blubaugh:

PresidentM.S. PT, LMT, CPT. Owner of his own fitness & training company, Advantage Sports. Is a highly experienced manual physical therapist, rehab clinician and performance trainer with over 20 years of experience in these combined fields in the Kansas City area. Michael earned a bachelors degree in science education and master’s degree in physical therapy from the University of Kansas. He has received advance training and specialization in manual therapy and massage therapy from the University of St. Augustine and The Massage Training Institute of Missouri. He is an Embelx nationally certified massage therapist and a certified lymphatic therapist and has extensive experience and background working in the field of edema management and lymphology. Michael is experienced as a seminar presenter in the areas of manual therapy and medically based massage therapy. He is a certified ACE personal trainer; youth speed and agility training specialist with the International Youth Conditioning Association and a certified Ignition trainer through the IMG Sports Performance Academies. Is a past Mem-ExSpan client.

 

Christina Erland Culver:

Member-at-Large.  M.A., National Security and Strategic Studies US Naval War College; B.A., Political Science, The University of Kansas. President, C/H Global Strategies, Washington, DC consulting firm for the education technology industry; former Vice President of Dutko Worldwide, Washington, DC; Formerly Deputy Assistant Secretary and Acting Assistant Secretary for the US Department of Education, Washington, DC; Formerly Vice President, Development Children’s Educational Opportunity Foundation of America, a 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation dedicated to helping low-income children gain access to a quality education through privately funded scholarship programs. Served as National Director of the Republican Presidential Roundtable, a national public policy membership organization, in support of Republican U.S. Senate candidates. Prior to this, she was a Special Assistant under Secretary Lamar Alexander at the U.S. Department of Education and served in the Bush White House in the Office of Presidential Personnel.  She went to Washington in 1987, as a Kansas University student, where she assisted former U.S. Senator Robert Dole on his bid for President. W. Storm Nickerson:

Treasurer. MBA Finance, Columbia Business School, and MA Harvard University. He has over 20 years of experience in the financial community. He started his career with Healey & Baker, a British real estate consulting firm, where he advised overseas institutional buyers on the purchase of commercial real estate. Following business school, Storm worked in the Merchant Banking group at Swiss Bank Corporation where he focused on transactions in the Paper & Forest Products and Metals & Mining sector. Storm also worked in the Investment Banking group at Salomon Smith Barney. While at SSB, he worked on over $10 billion dollars of transactions in the Energy, Utility and Industrial groups including managing a $4 billion bond deal for Conoco, one of the largest corporate bond deals ever completed at the time. Storm has worked as both a principal and advisor to multiple start-up companies including a risk advisory firm, a military grade communications company and an on-line service providing patients a unique means of managing and monitoring long-term illnesses. He has served as Treasurer of a variety of non-profit organizations. He is currently a Director at EAH Management, a privately held investment firm with a focus on NYC commercial real estate.

 
James Robesky: Vice President. B.A., magna cum laude, Communications, St. Ambrose University, IA. Quincey, IL. Owner of his own marketing, branding, and voice-over company, JIMROBESKY, www.jimrobesky.com. Previously the Director of University Communications at Quincy University.Served as Assignment Editor at KHQA-TV and WDJT-TV and as Operations Manager for Bick Broadcasting. He is an Air Force Veteran, competed Ironman World Championships, and is a local chapter Red Cross board member. Is a past Mem-ExSpan client.

Schwartz Fashions, New York - Los Angeles. Formerly Marketing Director for Liz Claiborne’s Laundry by Shelli Segal fashion house; Former Account Supervisor and Manager at E! Entertainment, and assisted with the launch of E’s new channel Style; Former Director for Creative Services for Universal Gameworks. Featured in lead female role in the 1989 action-adventure film River of Death co-starring with Robert Vaughn and Donald Pleasance. Now also serves as President, Art for Achievement, nonprofit organization, to help underprivileged youth learn art and design computer skills in South Pasadena, CA, and as Creative Art curriculum advisor for ILS. She and her daughter are both past Mem-ExSpan clients.
 
Teresa Clune: Secretary. B.S. Business Administration, Finance, University of Kansas. Teresa has specialized in tax consulting services for tax-advantage bond issuers for over 20 years. She worked for Arthur Andersen from 1992 through 2002, continued her career with BondResource Partners through 2008 and currently holds a senior management position with Avant Strategic Partners. She works from the firm’s Overland Park, Kansas satellite office. Prior to her career in arbitrage services, Teresa was a bank examiner for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and support staff at MemExSpan Corporation while attending college at the University of Kansas. Teresa’s role includes managing a sophisticated, national client base with the utmost attention to quality and service. She has established long-term relationships with her clients by focusing on value creation and anticipating how regulatory changes might impact her clients’ business. Teresa also works extensively on designing streamlined processes and enhancing specialized arbitrage software. She is a member of the Education Finance Council, the National Association of Bond Lawyers and the Government Finance Officers Association of Associations of Kansas and Missouri.

Michelle Guillermin: B.S. Commerce; University of Virginia. Michelle is a senior executive with proven leadership experience in financial services, professional services and the US government. Michelle was Chief Financial Officer of One-Economy Corporation. She is also owner of Guillermin Group, a consulting firm that provides executive guidance to firms facing strategic and operational challenges. Was past Chief Operating Officer at Epic Worldwide, a luxury travel brand; Chief Financial Officer of Dutko Worldwide, a leading public policy firm; served as Chief Financial Officer and Acting Chief Operating Officer of the Corporation for National and Community Service, a government corporation that supports domestic non-profits. She has extensive expertise in the development of growth strategies, launching new operations or products and the turnaround of organizations in high-profile and high-stakes environments. She has worked in multiple stages of the corporate life cycle, including private equity-backed companies, startup organizations, large and small scale mergers and acquisitions, and companies focusing on growth and expansion. She is active on the boards of a number of philanthropic organizations which address K-12, higher education and wildlife conservation.
 
Diane Auer Jones: Vice President, External and Regulatory Affairs, Career Education Corporation. She was Deputy to the Associate Director for Science in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy before serving as the Assistant Secretary of Education in the US Office of Education. She has served as program director at the National Science Foundation, and Princeton University's Director of the Office of Government Affairs. Was also acting staff director for the Research Subcommittee of the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Science. She began her career as a molecular biologist, biology professor, and small business owner. She began with 13 years in the laboratory, classroom, and the field, where she administered teacher professional development and middle school science enrichment programs, home schooling, and transitioned to a career in public policy.
 
Kasha Kelley: B.A. University of Kansas. CEO of First Intermark Corporation, a sales-follow-up advertising company, Ark City, KS. Currently Kansas State Representative, District 79; formerly manager for NavPress Publishing Company’s Publicity Department. Later, was Director of Operations for the Parents Television Council in Washington, DC. Was formerly Administrative Assistant, Senior Editor, and ILS volunteer. Nancy Omaha Boy: PhD. After several campus deanships, finishing her doctorate and several books on excellence in schools and colleges, she served two colleges as Vice President of Academic Affairs. She served Director of Teaching Excellence at Rutgers University. For twelve years she taught courses on Native American Indians and worked with campus faculty to improve teaching, including the introduction of electronic teaching. She was the longest serving member of the Board and President of the International Alliance for Learning (1988-2004), teaching the world how to use accelerated learning to teach. She also edited the Journal for Accelerated Learning and Teaching and serves as a reviewer as well on the Journal of Excellence in College Teaching.
